There’s an abundance of B-B-Q trailers in the state of Texas. They range from converted beer kegs on wheels that can be pulled behind a Harley to Mammoth works of art that are more aesthetic than functional.  Most serious smokers are defined by smooth, ellegant, and purly functional lines. Serious cooks build their smokers for performance and not so much for show. Such is the case of the two giant smokers that Hi-Way Auto Parts pulled into town and set up in the parking lot across from Nathana’s Salon today.

The Bar-B-Que was provided in contribution to the fund raiser being conducted by Nathana’s for Cade Boyle. Cade is a 7 year old local resident of the Texas Hill Country that has been diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma and is undergoing treatment at Cooks Children’s Hospital in Dallas.
Many residents turned out for a plate of absolutely wonderful Bar-B-Que and went inside Nathana’s to participate in the silent auction. The aroma of  smoked brisket and sausage drifting across a busy highway 377 in downtown Brownwood was enough to make several tourists circle the block and come back for a plate. No one was disappointed as the quality of the “Q” was excellent.

Nathana’s employee’s and 1 operator from another salon donated their time and all the money they made today to the fund. All money collected by Hi-Way Auto Parts for Bar-B-Q was donated as well. Several merchants around donated merchandise and services for the silent auction. Employee family members also contributed to the organizing and planning of the event and showed up on the day of the event to help out. The slogan for the event was “Giving back has never been so glamorous”.

The efforts of Tonya Lindeman & staff and Hi-Way Auto Parts & staff raised over $10,000.00 today. The funds will be presented to the parents of Cade Boyle to help with the expenses of his treatment.
